The sun is out, warming your terrace and your deckchair beckons.
It’s the perfect excuse to open a new book and get a fresh dose of self development and inspiration.
Not sure what to read? Here are just a few of my favourite books.
They will teach you everything you need to know, from building a success mindset, to managing your time, from setting awesome goals to making them happen!
I’ve been following Carrie Green for a long time, and I just find her incredibly inspiring and open.
In ‘She Means Business’, Carrie shares how visualisation and goal setting took her from a feeling trapped in a successful business she no longer enjoyed – to being an inspired entrepreneur.
Carrie talks about how she came to start the Female Entrepreneur Association, inspire thousands of other women to also create authentic businesses and lives that they love.
I love how she not only shares lots of practical tips on how to develop a business step-be-step, but also looks at how to overcome fear and doubt and build a robust success mindset.
This book is easy to read and full of inspiring quotes, stories and affirmations – an absolute gem for every female business owner or woman aspiring to be her own boss.
This is a great book that really zones in on the specific challenges many women face when starting and running their own business, such as a lack of confidence, self-belief and being surrounded by negativity.
Author, Cara Alwill Leyba, encourages women to be inspired by the many other women out there who are rocking their goals – but to find a way to express your own unique message and self, and not merely copy others.
She not only shares her own experiences in becoming a happy, confident and successful business owner, but also speaks to a range of other female entrepreneurs about their journeys, providing you with well-rounded advice. With so many perspectives, you are sure to find a few stories and ideas that inspire you.
I enjoyed the story format and could relate to many of the topics covered – and I certainly appreciated the reminder to always have some champagne on ice ready to celebrate every win!
I think every women can relate to the feeling of always being too busy and this book provides the perfect antidote.
Throughout her book, Shaa Wasmund shares many simple, but devastatingly effective lessons on how to work smart and live life your way.
The book is easy to read, inspiring and has great tips, summaries and exercises at the end of each chapter, making it a great reference too.
Its simple style and layout really echoes and amplifies the message that we can all start making simple changes to our lives that will stop us feeling overwhelmed, and allow us to regain control and get more done by improving our approach to work and life.
If you’ve ever felt that you just don’t have enough hours in the day or if you constantly feel that you run around all day, but achieve very little – then this book is a must!
I’ve had the very good fortune to have seen Mahima speak live on a few occasions and to attend some of her workshops. She is one of my favourite coaches on the subject of mindfulness – a key success factor for all business owners.
Being able to live in the moment, gain clarity of purpose and remain laser focused is not only empowering, but it can being inner piece and joy into your life.
In this book, Mahima Klinge shares her extraordinary journey of self discovery and transformation and shares how you too can explore your hidden talents and become unstoppable.
Mahima’s amazing tale is as enjoyable to read as it is inspiring, making is an ideal summer read.
When I switched from freelancing to running a home business, this was one of the first books I read on how to a successful network business.
I was hesitating about including this book, as I know that while network marketing industry has an impressing list of fans, including many of the world’s most respected business leaders and motivational speakers, it does seem to have just as many doubters – but should you decide to learn more about how the network marketing industry really works, and how you can make a success of it, then this is a great book to start with. So I’ve decided to keep it in the list.
I’ve now read many books on this subject, but this remains a firm favourite. I love Paula Pritchard’s easy going style, step-by-step guidance and how she shares exactly what you need to do or say in any given situation.
She also shares powerful advice of dealing with rejection, overcoming your fears and finding inspiration around you. So while this book has been written specifically for people entering the network marketing industry, I’d argue that any female business owner would benefit from reading the advice of this experienced entrepreneur.
I really love this book and it’s simple message – multiply your success one step at a time.
Darren Hardy, the author, is also the founder of Success Magazine, so when he says he has the winning formula for success, then you can be sure he has!
In this book, Darren explains what it takes to be a super-achiever.
The good news is, that each of us can do it too! You don’t need to have any special skills or talents – you just need focus and discipline.
Through a series of stories and insights, Darren explains the importance of having a goal, and how being clear about the direction you want to go in will have a profound impact on the choices you make each day – and how those choices lead to small actions and steps – and how these turn into momentum, the powerful force behind solid success.
If you are serious about building your business – or succeeding in anything – then this book is a must read!
This terrific book really does cover every success principle you’ll find out there, but all summarised in one powerful gem of a book.
Jack Canfield wrote this book a decade ago, and it is still relevant today.
It is is brimming with practical advice that will help you increase your confidence, tackle daily challenges, live with passion and purpose, and realise all your ambitions.
Each of the 64 principles (yes, 64!!!) is accompanied by inspiring stories and case studies, which bring the lessons and strategies to life and help them stay with you for a long time to come.
The principles are not just restricted to your business, but will help you improve every aspect of your life. I have this book on CD and regularly listen to it alone and with my kids, it gives them a wonderful foundation for life!
